No, I have never experienced a pandemic before but the staying at home part is so familiar. Some of the happiest years of my life were the years I was a stay home wife and mother. This was many years ago. As a young military wife in Hawaii with two small children, I was home all day every day mostly. My husband came home for lunch every day so I did lunch and dinner almost every day. I collected cook books and learned to prepare gourmet dishes, in addition to regular fare. Learning to serve food in an attractive way for my small family and guests was gratifying and reminiscent of growing up on a farm in South Central Alabama with my Momma who loved to cook for her family and have guests stop by to share a meal Later I went into the work force and was no longer a stay at home wife and mother, but the happy times remained with me. Years later I started another family by having a late in life child. Having been a Real Estate Associate in my husband's company, I took time off to once again become a stay at home mom and mother. Again I prepared lunch daily for my husband (first husband I were divorced, so this was a second marriage). Once again I relished preparing dinners for family and friends. After a couple of years I returned to the work force. This Coronavirus has reminded me of those times. During this time I am back to preparing most of my meals as I live alone, testing out new recipes and commemorating those days in my daily journals and writings. Text Any textual data included in the document When the Covid-19 lock downs hit, and the school was forced to shut all face-to-face learning sessions, this semester took a strange and sudden turn. I was certainly no stranger to online learning, but I had also never been a huge fan of it. It was difficult to try and learn based solely on readings and videos assigned by Professors. That said, I knew everyone involved (both professors and students) were doing everything they could to make this transition as easy and manageable as possible. So, I buckled down and put as much effort into everything as I could. The work load was bigger (both in academics and in my professional job), so the biggest issue for me and everyone else who works in an "essential" job was managing our time to the best of our abilities. Letting go of the fun and optional and focusing on the necessities. Thankfully, the hard work has paid off, as we as a body of students are nearing the end of the semester. Taken out of class and forced to be apart of an online format has made learning very difficult for me. I believe the classes I was taking this semester to have been my most important to carry me on with my major. I never experienced a pandemic in my life and this is first. School was great for me. I loved attending it, but the pandemic caused for us to move to online learning. Online learning has been hard with having so many classes. It’s hard when you do not have your professor there to teach in front of you or to be able to ask questions. Over all everyone was very polite, and also understanding of me wearing a mask. From my experiences the threat of contracting the illness was secondary to the inconvenience of not having internet or television to watch. We adopted her when she was 2 months old from Paws Humane Society. We named her Otie and we love her so much. During quarantine, my sister was feeling sad all the time and my mom has OCD, so my father came up with the name OCD Therapy. We decided to cut the name to Otie. Already our family seems to be in a better place and we are really happy. Otie has changed our lives and we couldn't have asked for a better cat.
