MidTown, Inc. History

Established in 2005, MidTown Inc. covers a six-square mile district of Columbus, Georgia. Born out of a desire to preserve several historic neighborhoods in the city’s first ring suburb and maintain a vibrant commercial life, the organization sought to establish: a sense of Midtown’s places, a sense of Midtown Identity, community redevelopment, and connectivity. MidTown, Inc. is made up of 24 historic neighborhoods built between the 1890s and the 1980s and has an active business association. It has sponsored urban redevelopment from re-surveying flood zones that have subsequently allowed extensive commercial re-investment to public space beautification projects that enrich a sense of well-being. Throughout its existence, MidTown, Inc. has focused on supporting a health, connected, walkable, and bikeable community for all its residents.
